Sen Ossoff: “Senator John Thune is in Georgia. He needs to answer whether he will denounce Congressman Mike Collins’ extensive ties to white nationalism and neo-Nazi ideology. […] He also needs to answer whether the ongoing ethics investigation in the House will continue in the Senate […]. Because in addition to being a known bigot with extensive ties to white nationalism and neo-Nazi ideology, Congressman Mike Collins is currently under federal investigation for the illegal misuse of tax dollars in his congressional office.”
Atlanta, Ga. — Today, Senator Jon Ossoff held a virtual press conference calling on Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune to denounce GOP U.S. Senate nominee Mike Collins’ extensive white nationalist ties as Thune descends on Atlanta to campaign for the embattled congressman.
Sen. Ossoff is continuing to press GOP leaders to cut bait with Collins’ collapsing campaign and demand Collins release every form of communication between himself, his associates, and any notorious white nationalists with ties to Collins or his office. The Senator’s calls follow the sudden replacement of Collins’ top aide, Kip Talley, who was revealed to have worked with white nationalists, including Nick Fuentes and Richard Spencer, to try to get a Holocaust denier out of jail.
Collins’ extensive ties to white nationalism continue to plague his U.S. Senate campaign after new reporting confirmed that Collins allowed neo-Nazi propagandist David Alan Scheer to build, live, and operate on Collins’ own property. According to earlier reporting by CNN’s KFILE, the neo-Nazi’s close ties to the congressman include being “featured in campaign photos, registered to vote at a Collins-owned property” and “appearing at his victory party.” Additional Washington Post reporting also recently exposed a former Collins staffer who uplifted Nazi imagery and depicted himself in a costume of the Ku Klux Klan.
During the press conference, the Senator also called on Thune to answer for Collins’ refusal to cooperate in the ongoing federal investigation into his misuse of taxpayer dollars. The House Ethics Committee is actively investigating Collins for allowing his former chief of staff, who had been convicted of criminal battery, to illegally funnel thousands of federal tax dollars to a girlfriend who did no work for the office.

“Congressman Mike Collins is a known bigot with extensive ties to white nationalism and neo-Nazi ideology. And today the Republican Senate Leader John Thune is in Georgia campaigning for Mike Collins,” said Sen. Ossoff. “Senator Thune needs to answer whether he will denounce Mike Collins’ extensive ties to white nationalism and neo-Nazi ideology, which again […] it is not a matter of allegation, but a matter of established fact in independent, credible reporting.”
