WHAT THEY’RE WATCHING: On Offense, Ossoff Calls Out Chaos and Corruption of Trump Administration

AJC: “Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff is going on offense — leaning hard into voting rights and anti-corruption themes as he frames himself as a steady hand in a chaotic time.”

Atlanta, Ga. — On Saturday, Senator Jon Ossoff held a Rally for Our Republic in Atlanta and went on offense in front of an energized crowd of 1,400 Georgians – a sign that Democrats are on offense nine months out from Election Day.

During the rally, Senator Ossoff called out the chaos and corruption of the Trump Administration amidst failures to address rising costs, skyrocketing health care premiums, and tariffs causing economic uncertainty.

This comes as polling has shown that Americans are rejecting the Trump Administration’s key priorities and concerned about the president’s failures to address the issues that impact their lives.

AJC: As Republicans splinter, Ossoff seizes the offensive in a changing Senate race
By Greg Bluestein | February 7, 2026

KEY EXCERPTS:

  • With Donald Trump’s approval ratings slipping and Georgia Republicans locked in a three-way scramble for his favor, Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff is going on offense — leaning hard into voting rights and anti-corruption themes as he frames himself as a steady hand in a chaotic time.
  • At a reelection rally Saturday, Ossoff denounced the FBI raid of Fulton County’s election site as a “scene out of a banana republic” and described the November vote as nothing short of a decisive test for the nation’s future.
  • “I believe we will escape this moral tailspin and recommit ourselves to the values that have powered 250 years of progress,” he said. “But none of this is possible without victory this November.”
  • Ossoff remains the nation’s most vulnerable Democratic incumbent on the 2026 midterm ballot, a distinction he happily invokes to mobilize supporters. But as a May primary nears, senior Democratic leaders — and even influential Republicans — see a race tilting in his favor. […]
  • The Democrat’s organizational muscle was on display at the College Park convention center rally, where he addressed more than 1,400 supporters from a stage styled almost like a boxing ring. He didn’t bother mentioning any of his GOP rivals’ names, instead taking square aim at Trump.
  • “There is a wave building,” he told the cheering crowd. “And come November, the people who have been looting this country and desecrating our values are going to feel it.”

AP: Health costs are fueling voter stress and powering Democratic campaigns
By Ali Swenson and Jeff Amy | February 7, 2026

KEY EXCERPTS:

  • President Donald Trump’s second term has presented an array of opportunities for political opponents, from immigration crackdowns and lingering inflation to attacks on independent institutions and friction with overseas allies.
  • Many Democrats, however, are staying focused on health care, an issue that was once a political liability but has become foundational for the party in recent elections. They insist their strategy will help the party regain control of Congress in the November elections and fare better than chasing headlines about the latest outrages out of the White House. […]
  • U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia, one of the party’s most endangered incumbents this year, said at a rally Saturday attended by more than 1,000 people in an Atlanta suburb that health care is part of Trump’s abandonment of working people.
  • “While prices are going up and jobs are getting harder to find, they decided to let health insurance premiums double for more than 20 million Americans, including more than a million Georgians,” said Ossoff, the only Democratic senator seeking reelection this year in a state that Trump won in 2024. He said 200,000 people in Georgia had lost their coverage. […]
  • Ossoff has called health care “a life-or-death question.”
  • Teresa Acosta […] said her ACA policy, which covers herself and two teenagers, including a son with Type 1 diabetes, now costs $520 a month, seven times more than before expanded subsidies went away.
  • “Ultimately, Trump and congressional Republicans refused to act,” Acosta said at the Ossoff rally. “They refused to stand up for the care that me and over 1 million Georgians rely on.”

WRDW: Ossoff Rallies In Atlanta

  • [WRDW] Senator Jon Ossoff held a rally in Atlanta today. A large crowd joined Ossoff to kick off the election year, signaling Democrats are on offense nine months before Election Day.
  • Ossoff criticized what he called chaos and corruption in the Trump administration, pointing to rising costs, higher health care premiums, and tariffs driving economic uncertainty.
  • Ossoff had one message for the crowd to take away from the rally…
  • [SEN. OSSOFF] And as a result, we are going to mobilize the biggest and most unstoppable turnout in state history. Are you ready to vote, Atlanta? Say vote, say vote, say vote!
  • [WRDW] Recently, a veteran cemetery Ossoff has been pushing for in Augusta has gotten the go ahead with funding.

WXIA: Senator Ossoff’s campaign highlights high stakes in Georgia’s 2026 senate race

  • [WXIA] Senator Jon Ossoff’s campaign is drawing attention to what it calls high stakes in Georgia’s 2026 Senate race, as he prepares for what Democrats say could be his toughest reelection campaign. Today, the Ossoff campaign rally pointed to rising health insurance costs and warnings from the University of Georgia that federal policy could push the state toward a recession.
  • Ossoff also noted Republican challengers oppose extending Affordable Care Act tax credits, relied on by about 1.4 million Georgians. He even touched on the ongoing issues with federal agents across the country.
  • [SEN. OSSOFF] You see masked federal agents kicking down doors without so much a warrant from a judge, dragging Americans out of their homes without cause, demanding papers at police checkpoints, assaulting and even killing Americans with impunity from the very top.
  • [WXIA] Ossoff says that this race could once again put Georgia at the center of national politics.
