11Alive Atlanta: Sen. Perdue Caught Lying in Ad on Pre-Existing Conditions

11Alive’s Doug Richards highlights PolitiFact’s fact-check of Sen. Perdue, which found Perdue’s ad was “false”

Richards notes that while Perdue claims he supports protections for pre-existing conditions, he voted to repeal the ACA and a Perdue-backed bill contained a loophole for insurance companies

Ossoff responds: “That’s not leadership. That’s deceit”

Atlanta, Ga. — A new report from 11Alive Atlanta’s Doug Richards highlights how Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) got caught running a “false” TV ad to Georgians that distorts his record on health care and pre-existing conditions.

Richards reports that PolitiFact found Perdue’s ad on pre-existing conditions as false, “because Senator Perdue voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and that a Perdue-sponsored bill to replace the ACA contained a loophole that could exclude pre-existing conditions.”

PolitiFact found that “Perdue’s record on preexisting conditions doesn’t match his promises.”

And in typical fashion, when reached out for comment, Perdue did not care to explain to Georgians why he is trying to deceive them.

“Senator Perdue’s campaign as well as his Senate office did not respond to our request for comment to clarify his support for pre-existing conditions or to comment on the PolitiFact rating,” Richards said.
