AJC: Jon Ossoff Swamps Mike Collins in Fundraising, Reports $42M on Hand

AJC: “U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff enters the general election campaign with more than $42 million in his account after raising another $20 million during the second quarter, giving the Georgia Democrat one of the nation’s largest war chests in his reelection fight against U.S. Rep. Mike Collins.”

Atlanta, Ga. — A new report today in the AJC highlights how Sen. Jon Ossoff’s reelection campaign is entering the General Election for Georgia’s U.S. Senate race with a robust war chest of over $42 million cash on hand, having raised $20 million in the second quarter of 2026 to his campaign account.

The Senator’s Q2 haul comes four months out from Election Day and follows a troubling Supreme Court decision that’s widely expected to open up the floodgates for unlimited sums of dark money to prop up GOP candidates in states like Georgia and across the country in the 2026 midterms.

Sen. Ossoff has built a juggernaut overwhelmingly powered by small-dollar donors; nearly 340,000 of Q2 contributions were from donors who had given less than $200 cumulatively, and the average Q2 donation was $42 among more than over 474,000 donations.

Meanwhile, Sen. Ossoff’s opponent Mike Collins continues to face a slew of scandals, including an active federal investigation into the illegal misuse of tax dollars, renewed scrutiny over Collins’ office’s ties to prominent white supremacists and efforts to free a Holocaust denier from jail, as well as outrage over his antisemitic harassment of a Jewish reporter and praise for a young man who harassed a Black woman by making monkey sounds.

KEY EXCERPTS

  • U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff enters the general election campaign with more than $42 million in his account after raising another $20 million during the second quarter, giving the Georgia Democrat one of the nation’s largest war chests in his reelection fight against U.S. Rep. Mike Collins.
  • The campaign said Wednesday that the average contribution was $42 and nearly 90% of the more than 474,000 donations it received from April through June were $100 or less.
  • Collins, meanwhile, said he raised about $2.1 million over the same span and has roughly the same amount in his account. His campaign said the average donation was $19.05 from almost 16,000 contributors.
  • Ossoff has long ranked among the nation’s most prodigious political fundraisers. He shattered U.S. House fundraising records during his 2017 special election campaign and has continued to post eye-popping totals since winning a Senate seat in 2021. […]
  • …Republicans have signaled they’ll devote enormous resources to defeating him. The Senate Leadership Fund, the GOP-aligned super PAC, has pledged to spend an initial $44 million on the race, its largest investment ever in a Georgia Senate contest outside of a runoff. […]
  • Ossoff faces a unique challenge: He’s the only Democratic Senate incumbent seeking reelection this year in a state President Donald Trump carried in 2024. Winning another term will require him to capture a meaningful share of Trump voters.
  • Ossoff’s campaign also warned the stakes are higher this year after a June Supreme Court ruling that lifted longstanding limits on coordinated spending between political parties and candidates, which could help offset the Democratic fundraising edge.
