BREAKING: Following Last Night’s Devastating Debate Defeat Sen. David Perdue Backs Out of Final Debate

Debate with WSB-TV in Atlanta had been scheduled for weeks

Perdue’s widely-panned debate collapse last night garnered over 9 million views online

Atlanta, Ga. — Just minutes ago, less than 24 hours after his deeply embarrassing defeat in last night’s WTOC Savannah debate against Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff, Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) has cowardly backed out of this Sunday’s long-scheduled WSB-TV debate.

Last night, investigative journalist and Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Jon Ossoff held Perdue accountable for downplaying the virus, telling Georgians COVID-19 was no deadlier than the flu and that there would be no significant uptick in cases — while he bought stock in producers of medical equipment and vaccines and dumped casino shares — and reminded Georgians that Perdue is continuing to work to gut protections for pre-existing conditions, even during a pandemic.

This cowardly move is no surprise from Perdue, whose campaign has been collapsing for weeks and who has refused to hold a single public town hall as a Senator. Perdue has been called out by multiple news outlets during this election cycle for backing out of interviews and being inaccessible, demonstrating his cowardice and lack of accountability.

“At last night’s debate, Senator Perdue was exposed for his personal corruption, his catastrophic failure and endless lies during this pandemic, and his ongoing efforts to deny health care to Georgians with pre-existing conditions just so insurance companies can make more money.

“Senator Perdue’s cowardly withdrawal from our final debate says it all: David Perdue feels entitled to his office, and he’ll do anything to avoid accountability for his blatant corruption and his total failure during this unprecedented health crisis,”said Ossoff.
