CBS46 REPORT: David Perdue is hiding from the Georgians who elected him, has never held a public town hall for his constituents, won’t agree to debate Ossoff
Yet last week, Perdue headlined two private closed-door events with organizations who contributed $10,000 each to Perdue’s campaigns
CBS46’s Rick Folbaum: “Who is getting access to the Senator these days? Donors.”
Atlanta, Ga. — A devastating new report from CBS46 Atlanta highlights Senator David Perdue (R-Ga.)’s pay-to-play corruption, avoiding local press interviews and constituent town halls in favor of private meetings with trade groups and associations that bankroll his campaigns.
Last week Perdue attended two private, ticketed events with the Georgia Chamber and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia, both of which members of the public had to pay to attend.
CBS46 discovered that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Council of Engineering Companies have each given Perdue’s campaign $10,000, and now the Senator rewarded them with his time behind closed doors.
Yet for Perdue’s constituents who want face time with their U.S. Senator, opportunities are few and far between.
CBS46’s Rick Folbaum highlighted how in five and a half years since entering the Senate, Perdue has never held a public town hall to take questions from his constituents or answer for his voting record.
Perdue also refuses to debate Jon Ossoff, who has challenged the first-term Senator to five, live televised debates before the general election in November.

Not only has Perdue refused to hold a town hall to answer for his votes; he also does not take well to being asked questions in public. As CBS46’s Folbaum shows, Perdue was caught on camera in 2018 stealing a Georgia Tech student’s phone while being asked a question in-person and was also caught on camera fleeing into an airport bathroom to avoid questions.
And Folbaum also found the lengths Perdue will go to cover-up his lack of public events.
Folbaum uncovered a photo of Perdue used in a recent tweet from the Senator promoting COVID-19 constituent town halls was actually a stock photo of Perdue from January 2017.
