AJC: “No candidate has so far taken a more aggressive approach to the nine-week runoff than Ossoff”
Atlanta, Ga. — This week, investigative journalist and Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Jon Ossoff barnstormed the Peach State during a seven city tour on what’s at stake in the January 5 runoff election. Throughout the week, Ossoff laid out his vision for the “Future of Georgia,” from how to recover from the COVID-19 by getting more economic relief for working families and small businesses to protecting health care during the pandemic.
At each stop, Ossoff remained laser-focused on the issues facing Georgia families, from the need to reunite this country to defeat this virus, invest in rural health care amidst nine rural hospital closures in the past 10 years, including the Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center in Cuthbert last month, and protect the health and safety of Georgia’s military families by improving housing at Fort Benning while in Columbus.
Ossoff’s events each drew hundreds of cars and socially-distanced supporters — and attention from local and national reporters — who highlighted how Ossoff has “leaned into the campaign” and “race[d] to a quick start.”
Senator David Perdue (R-Ga.), on the other hand, just made his first public appearance in ten days and has yet to take a single question about why Georgians should re-elect him to the U.S. Senate.
Ossoff’s tour concludes tonight in Athens.
