Sen. Ossoff: “I’d like to call our attention to the fact that we are living here in Georgia in the midst of a health care emergency.”
Columbus, Ga. — Today, Senator Jon Ossoff joined a packed room at the 22nd Annual Women’s Empowerment Luncheon to discuss women’s health care in Georgia.
“We are living here in Georgia in the midst of a health care emergency,” Sen. Ossoff said. “And it’s an emergency that some of our so-called leaders try to dress up as normal. They tried to deaden us to all the death around us, and to the suffering that their choices have imposed. They’ve continued to block Medicaid expansion, while Georgia has lost 21 hospitals over the past two decades. Last year, they gutted Medicaid nationally. Already, one labor and delivery unit in the state of Georgia has closed, citing those Medicaid cuts with more pain to come for hospitals and clinics and nursing homes…”
“I know our country is divided, but I still believe we can unite the people to do what’s right. I think we can unite people behind the idea that no one should go without insurance for lack of money. I think we can unite our state to reopen those hospitals, to build a clinic that will serve every town and every county. I think we can unite our state to end this emergency, and the time to do it is right now,” Sen. Ossoff concluded.
