Atlanta, Ga. — Today, as his hero and mentor Congressman John Lewis is laid to rest in Atlanta, Jon Ossoff released the following statement:
“Congressman John Lewis has charted a clear course forward for all of us.
“His marching orders are as simple as they are awesome: to end oppression, poverty, and violence, and to realize universal human freedom and human rights. These goals are urgent and achievable, and the Congressman’s work and ideas make them starkly clear.
“By leaps and bounds, the historic victories for which Congressman Lewis risked everything brought America and humanity closer to realizing that Beloved Community.
“We have considerable distance yet to travel, and that hard-fought progress can be lost without vigilance. But these are the sincere shared aspirations of the vast majority, and together we can achieve them in our lifetime.”
