Atlanta, Ga. — Today, investigative journalist and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Jon Ossoff slammed Senator David Perdue for his baseless attacks on Georgia’s election results. Last night, Perdue released a statement of support for the state of Texas’ baseless lawsuit seeking to overturn Georgia’s election results, which even Georgia’s Republican Attorney General Chris Carr has called “constitutionally, legally and factually wrong.”
In response, Ossoff released the following statement:
“Senator Perdue is supporting a baseless out-of-state lawsuit to attack the voting rights of Black Georgians, whose record turnout delivered victory for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Perdue persists in his attack on Black voters despite the pleas of Georgia’s Republican election officials, who have warned that Perdue’s support for Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the election result is a baseless attack on democracy that is putting election workers’ lives at risk. David Perdue is a disgrace.”
