Atlanta, Ga. — Investigative journalist, media executive, and U.S. Senate candidate Jon Ossoff Friday afternoon issued the following statement:
“Multiple reports make it clear that Fulton County election officials have lost or failed to act on a significant number of absentee ballot requests.
“As a result, many voters who had long planned to vote absentee never received their ballots and are scrambling to make logistical arrangements to vote in-person, while necessary but extraordinary public health precautions have aggravated delays at polling places.
“Early Voting lines at Fulton County polling places have exceeded four hours at times today, the final day of Early Voting.
“To uphold voting rights and protect public health, Fulton County must immediately request court instructions ordering and permitting the extension of voting hours to 9:00pm on Election Day this Tuesday, or risk major harm to Fulton County residents’ voting rights.
“Fulton County election officials must do right by their constituents and seek judicial instructions to keep the polls open so every vote is counted!”
